Individual tried to write a will to take care of his estate. He did it himself, signed it and had it notarized. Unfortunately he didn't follow Virginia law and the Clerk, and the Judge, could not admit it to probate. Therefore (1) his careful plan won't happen and (2) the costs of administration and attorneys fees will be substantial. This is why a competent estate planning lawyer should prepare the estate plan documents. Elder law attorneys draft wills - you can find an elder law attorney at the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys website www.naela.org (use the zip code lookup feature to find one near you)
